Do you want to see the Northern Lights, but you’re not a fan of winter? Have the snow and winter climate stopped you from making your dream of experiencing the Aurora Borealis come true? If you answered with yes to the questions above, then the Aurora Holidays autumn holiday package might just be the right thing for you. Autumn is the perfect time of year to see the Aurora Borealis in milder temperatures without the ice and snow. The Northern Lights are visible as early as the beginning of September here in Utsjoki. The rivers and lakes are still open during the autumn months providing photographers with the perfect scenery to capture those reflections during day and night. Autumn in Utsjoki still offers plenty of daylight to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing and canoeing. Nature lovers can enjoy fall foliage, berry picking, landscape photography and encounters with local wildlife. Visit us during autumn for the chance to see the Northern Lights and experience ruska (the colourful fall). Whether you’re looking for an active outdoor holiday or peaceful nature getaway to unwind and relax – we’ve got you covered!

We offer autumn holiday packages from Tuesday to Sunday from September until the end of October. The Aurora Holidays autumn holiday package includes accommodation in your own private, fully-equipped cottage with sauna, full-board: all the meals in our own restaurant and nature right on your doorstep, as well as airport transportation and a village tour of Utsjoki. On the Tuesday when you arrive, we will pick you up from Ivalo airport (more about flights here). It is about a two hour drive to Utsjoki and your cottage. We drive through a beautiful, colourful scenery of fells (hills), forests and lakes. You might also be lucky and see some reindeer, elk or other wild animals. Your holiday package has full board included. It means that you don’t need to worry about grocery shopping, cooking or the dishes at all – we will take care of it all! Our new restaurant serves you breakfast, lunch/snacks and dinner every day during your stay. Before we leave Ivalo, we will stop at the supermarket in Ivalo village, so you can get some snacks or other essentials you may need for your stay.

Our full board has included all the meals (breakfast, lunch/snacks and dinners). There are supermarkets in Nuorgam and Tana Bru (in Norway), so you will get a chance to do some more shopping if needed. Upon arriving in Utsjoki, we will show you your cottage and give you instructions on how to use the sauna etc. Water from the tap is drinkable so there is no need to buy water.

Your holiday package includes three guided nights of Northern Lights chasing and a village tour of Utsjoki, where you will have the chance to visit some of our favourite landmarks, learn more about local history and find what life 450km above the Arctic Circle is like. We offer a range of nature, outdoor and cultural activities for you to choose from. Explore the untouched nature surrounding your cottage on foot during a day hike. Join us for a photography tour of autumn colours in some of the most stunning locations that the area has to offer. Visit a Sami Museum with us and learn more about the indigenous people of Lapland. Or why not have a go at berry picking to sample some of the local berry varieties?
