More about our Guided Northern Lights Experience

All of our holiday guests have seen the Auroras with us in the past 9+ years

Our guides are Northern Lights  professionals actively monitoring the Northern Lights and solar activity throughout your trip, ensuring that they are always ready to guide you to the spectacular aurora borealis.

During max three evenings (which we will select) of your holiday, our guides will be searching the night skies and seeking for the best possible place from where you will be most likely to see the Northern Lights. Sometimes, the journey isn’t that far at all, as the Northern Lights are often visible as soon as you step out of your cottage! Through careful analysis and planning, our guides always choose the best nights, places, and times for your Northern Lights experiences.

What would a holiday be, if you didn’t have stunning photos to remember it by? That’s why you will also receive photography guidance and direction from us. Our guides are passionate about photography and will help you take the best shots with your camera, if your camera is suitable for photographing the Northern Lights, as night photography requires certain settings and features that your camera and lenses be capable of. If you have any questions about the Northern Lights prior to your trip, please feel free to contact us. If you are fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights, our guides will gladly take pictures for and of you with the Northern Lights; so that you will get a memory of the Northern Lights even if you don’t have your own camera.

Wonderful week in a Beautil location with stunning skies! We spent a wonderful week with Tiina and her team at Aurora Holidays. Our primary guides, Maria and Emilia, couldn't have done any more to make our stay truly memorable. Even if the weather locally doesn't look great, the team will drive you almost anywhere to give you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights. In our case we had a cloudy start to the week, but persistence was rewarded with some beautiful skies later on, mostly right by the river outside our cottage. Utsjoki being so far North makes all the difference to your chances of a good display, with lights visible even when the Solar activity isn't very high. Our cottage was very comfortable, warm (important given where it is and the time of year!) and well appointed. The food was lovely - all prepared freshly using local produce. As far as trips are concerned, we highly recommend the Husky Sledging and Snowmobiling but remember you may be up late at night Aurora chasing so make sure you grab some rest in your cottage Sauna while you can!

A spectacular experience in Lapland! I had a wonderful week at Aurora Holidays. The host, Tiina, is terrific. The food was delicious and was tailored to my needs as a vegetarian. Daytime activities were as promised. I went dog sledding, visited a reindeer herd, went on a snowmobile trip in the wilderness, and went to Norway to see the Arctic Ocean. The cabins are very comfortable—the sauna was a perfect way to warm up after a night of watching the northern lights. And the northern lights were spectacular—a true bucket list experience. I can’t say enough about the place and the people.

Happy New Year in Utsjoki. We loved everything about our New Year holiday with Aurora Holidays. Truly genuine hospitality, very comfortable accommodation, lovely food, incredible scenery, wonderful activities, super kind guides and absolutely mind blowing northern lights displays! The team at Aurora really go the extra mile to make sure everyone enjoys themselves and think of all the little extras that really make you feel cared for and cosy - despite temperatures dropping to -30 degrees celsius on our trip! 100% recommend.

Best place to see the northern lights in amazing wilderness! In late October I decided that I wanted to see the Northern Lights again, after checking with friends it became clear quickly that my best chances would be somewhere in Northern Lapland. Looking closer I found Tiina's family business with full board catering and of course the best chances to see the Lights. Tiina made sure to meet all my travel requirements and even got an extra driver to pick me up at Ivalo Airport as my flights got delayed. After driving 2 h through the arctic landscape we arrived at the shores of the Teno River and had some time to rest in my Finn Hut with its own sauna and all you need to feel right at home. The food was amazing and local stuff dominates the menu, with reindeer, arctic cod and fish from local lakes. But Tiina and the chef will make sure that you feel right at home there with vegan and vegetarian options provided. The first night we didn't see the aurora due to clouds. Next morning the skies started to clear and we did a snow shoe hike up to a hut on the fell where we had a fire and sausages. After resting and another amazing dinner the skies cleared and the Northern Lights began to shine faintly at first before filling the whole sky and dancing wonderfully above our heads. The happened the next two nights. As a photographer I was keen on exploring the area a bit an one day the Jonna took me on tour for three hours and the other day Tiina took us to Nuorgam up on a fell were we witness the beautiful arctic twilight. Also feeding the domestic reindeers was a cool experience and I learned a lot about the Sami culture.

Amazing!!! All of it, being somewhere with no light pollution meant we saw the northern lights four nights out of five. The accomodation, food and staff were perfect. It really couldn't have been better

Wonderful vacation with Aurora Holidays. The host and her team are the best in class! Utsjoki is a hidden gem for Aurora Chasing. Importantly, when the sky is clear, aurora chase is effortless by sitting around wood wire in a hut and monitoring the live stream for the first sign of green light and then walking several steps to river bank. The cabins are spotless and filled with the host's thoughtfulness. What you need are all in there. Food is wonderfully prepared, healthy, and artistically presented. Tiina, Rayann, and Lisa are wonderful souls.

Amazing moment with amazing people. We booked an aurora tour on the last minute while still on the road, Tina answered so quickly it was perfect, we were very well welcomed, we met our second guide rayann ( bonus he was french) who was awesome too, they were a great duo and the trip who was supposed to be around 3h i think endend in a 6h trip accros norway, they were so motivated and never gave up to finally see 2 auroras after an epic chase. Lot of teaching everything was perfect.

Aurora Holdays experience. We looked for a fall getaway to see the Northern Lights. We found sites that cost less but offered less. Some had you make your own meals, some had no daytime activities, some were not in the best location for viewing. Aurora Holidays had it all for a fair price: location (dark nights with unobstructed views, being far enough north the lights were overhead as well as on the horizon); three full meals plus snacks (gourmet quality food, presentation, and service); full service bar; clean new cabins; and the most warm and welcoming hostess and staff. We felt like and became a part of the family. We experienced so much more than great views of the lights; we had guided hikes, tutoring in photography, learned about reindeer and herding, and enjoyed a peaceful and quiet place to rest and relax. It was a perfect getaway holiday, and during these covid concerns we felt safe and secure the whole time. Tiina, thanks again from your Florida family.
