All inclusive trail running weeks in Arctic Lapland and Northern Norway - Summer 2024 & 2025

We are hosting two all inclusive trail running holiday weeks this summer of 2024 and two weeks in 2025, in the Arctic wilderness around Utsjoki Finnish Lapland and Northern Norway. Your guide for these weeks is experienced trail runner and wilderness guide Sonja.

Summer 2024 trail running weeks: 8th-14th July and 15th-21st July

Summer 2025 trail running weeks: 11th-17th  August and 18th-24th August.

These requested trail running weeks run only for two weeks in 2024 and 2025 ( from Monday to Sunday) and host a maximum of 8 guests per week. Your holiday week includes four (4) guided trail running days, accommodation in a well-equipped cabin, three meals per day and transportation during your stay.

You can add additional activities and day trips to the week, such as a King crab safari or sailing in the Arctic Ocean or Sami culture experience. Have a look at additional activities here.

During the week we will run around 60-80 km. We will be ascending around 100-400m each day.

This holiday is for you if you’ve been running somehow consistently for a few years and your longest runs have been around 20-30km or you’ve run half a marathon.

We will be doing trail runs between 10-30km on the running days. We’ll move at a moderate to easy speed keeping our heart rates low at a basic endurance level. Walking uphill and running downhill is the basic rule of thumb for these weeks.

For guided trail running days we will be on the move from 4 to 10 hours per day, including, including the transportation to and from the running location of each day. For the longer days, we’ll eat lunch out in the field.

The weather conditions in the Arctic can change fast and drastically; we reserve the right to make adjustments and changes to the holiday for safety reasons.

The maximum group size for this trail running holiday week is eight guests, so be sure to book your spot soon!

Your trail running guide Sonja

I have been running more or less consistently since high school but really went down the rabbit hole of long distance running at the turn of the last decade when I ran my first marathon. At the finish line I realized I could have kept going so immediately started to train for my first trail ultra. I love running trail ultras because the pace is slow, views are often breathtaking and I can eat constantly. Currently I have 7 finished short trail ultras (between 50 and 90 km) under my belt and I am training to run and hopefully finish my first proper ultra, a 160 km race.

For me running is a place where I am my most authentic self. Ultra distances fascinate me because they are a place to explore limits, physical and mental. I am constantly learning how much more I am capable of, despite what my legs are saying. For me running is not just training but a way to be close to nature and get to beautiful places. The biggest freedom I know is running down a fell with the wind in my hair and not a care in the world. The unique long ascents and descents on the fells of Utsjoki are what I most enjoy running here on the top of Finland.

In Utsjoki, Arctic Lapland and Northern Norway, trail running landscapes are beautifully varied.  We’ll cross highlands, boglands, fell tops, arctic birch forests and various water obstacles. There will be ascends and descends and rugged and unique terrain in all forms.

On our trail runs, we’ll respect the delicate Arctic nature by staying on trails. We will be running in some of the last true wildernesses left in Europe; you can expect solitude, peace, changing weather and zero crowds.
